Me + 12 Credits = Messy House

I am officially in full swing of my first semester back at school. It has been wonderful! I love my classes, I love being back in a learning environment, I love pushing myself and seeing what I can do. But I will be the first to tell you that I have had to let some things in my life go. The first being my house. I know that these pictures aren't pretty, but I got home from class one day and just had to bust out the camera. I just can't keep up with it! And honestly I don't have much of a desire to. Once in a while I get my act together and get the place cleaned up, but it doesn't last too long so I try to take it one room at a time.
This is the family room and is the one room that I rarely put on my to-do list. I can get the kids to cooperate once in a while and get it cleaned up at least partially. Preston has such a good time playing with all of the toys that I can't get too mad about the mess in the family room. Besides, it is in the basement and no one but the children usually venture down there. Below is usually all I ever see of the mess that is lurking downstairs.

To keep the living room/kitchen/dining area cleaned up of the children's clutter I usually just toss everything down the stairs so the picture above is what we end up with.

The kids aren't the only messy ones in the house though. I leave my stuff all over! And Josh is worse than me, he seems to have developed an issue with putting his shoes in the closet. I don't know why I can't seem to put things where they belong. This counter is actually cleaner than usual and hey you can't even see any dried food particles on there, BONUS!

This is the worst, THE LAUNDRY! Our washer and dryer are right off of the kitchen so it tends to overflow to the living room. I like our house and I even like the floor plan (which Josh hates) but I would request that the washer and dryer be upstairs where three of the bedrooms are instead of on the main floor where NO bedrooms are. Just a simple request! And then the chair wouldn't have to be designated at the folding station, wait let's get real, it is more just a PILING station than a FOLDING station. This has been my saving grace. I have been keeping up on the dishes and actually cooking meals. I had a fear that when I started back to school I wouldn't do the dishes, which to me means no cooking because I hate to cook when my dishes and kitchen are dirty. But as I look around the house and see the perpetual mess I realize that I can at least keep the dishes done and cook meals for my family.
So school is going well and I have two math tests under my belt (I am taking two different math classes) and I have my first big Anatomy and Physiology test tomorrow (yes I should be studying.) But I loved it, even if it means I have had to trade off a clean house, which wasn't super clean to begin with, and other things like blogging. So wish me luck and I will be glad when the semester is done and I can scrub this place down because it will definitely need it by then.
